
Carlos Hiran Goes de Souza is MD, MPH, MBA and Specialist in Planning and Management of Health Care Systems and Hospital management. Carlos has worked on quality improvement in healthcare since 1990 on the start-up of accreditation schemes in Brazil. Since then, he was trained in Brazil, USA, France and UK in quality management, quality assessment and accreditation processes. His professional life Carlos has been focused in clinical governance and hospital management always involved in quality management. He has been a member of the Brazilian Medical Society of Healthcare Administration and the Brazilian Academy of Hospital Administration since 1990, member of the Portuguese Society for Quality in Health Care since 2010. Over his academic and cultural life, Carlos has been involved in several teaching programs and has also published book chapters on the accreditation subject area as well as three fiction books. Over the past eighteen years, his professional and academic experience has broadened considerably through his international work and understanding of healthcare systems in different cultural contexts. His involvement with ISQua – The International Society for Quality in Healthcare commenced in 2010 as Individual Member, Surveyor, Expert and as IEEA Council member. Carlos is also a Founding Member of the International Academy of Quality and Safety in Health Care (IAQS).
