The standard is currently being revised to reflect the growing number of publications addressing the recent directions in treatment targeting stroke recovery. The development of the AACI Clinical Standards for Acute Stroke Care Services is part of the AACI Quality and Patient Safety Program.

This edition of the AACI Clinical Standard for Acute Stroke Care has been prepared by AACI America Technical Committee and contains all the standards and notes needed for AACI Clinical Excellence Certification process.

The AACI Standards for Acute Stroke Care Services have been designed so that they can be implemented in healthcare services desiring initial acute and/or sub-acute comprehensive care. It also addresses general safety for workers, patients and other visitors within Stroke Care Centre. This means that service providers can use the AACI Standards for Stroke Care Services to continuously  improve the quality and safety of their care by assessing and managing the performance of their services, and those provided on their behalf, with the AACI standard.

“With this Standard AACI puts strong focus at one the most vulnerable segment of the Healthcare system. At the national level, the Clinical Certification will consist of specific national tools to guide the provision of Stroke care services, including the AHA Guidelines. It will be applicable globally but also will take in consideration specific inputs from national healthcare systems” says Dr. John Bell , President of the AACI .

The revised version of Clinical Excellence Standard for Acute Stoke is due to be published end of May 2023.
