Founded in 1786, University Psychiatric Clinic Ljubljana (UPK Ljubljana) is the largest psychiatric tertiary, teaching hospital in Slovenia, offering diagnostic, and therapeutic, care facilities.
Psychotherapy is based on the principles of psychodynamic and cognitive-behavioural therapy and psychotherapeutic work is regularly supervised and evaluated. The psychotherapy team consists of complete range of qualified staff, namely physicians, psychologists, social workers, head nurses and nurses.
The psychotherapy programme consists of individual and group psychotherapy, psycho-sociotherapy and educational groups.Group and individual psychotherapy is applied not only on the hospitalized patients but on day hospital patients as well, with the aim of stimulating their re-socialization, sustaining their adequate functioning, prolonging remission periods and reducing their re-hospitalisation. Where necessary the patient’s family is also included in group and individual treatment.
