To demonstrate your competency, you will complete a 2-hour examination assessing your understanding of the standards, methodology, and survey process.
Surveyor Candidate Requirements
To be considered for the AACI Surveyor Program, candidates should possess a solid understanding of ISO 9001:2015 and the fundamental principles of a Quality Management System (QMS). Prior experience conducting internal accreditation surveys within a healthcare organization is highly advantageous.
Observation Survey Requirement
Applicants without prior surveyor experience are required to complete at least one (1) observation survey before beginning classroom training. This introductory step provides valuable firsthand insight into the accreditation process and prepares candidates for formal education.
Work Experience Validation
Candidates must demonstrate relevant professional experience within their respective healthcare discipline. The following section outlines the specific eligibility criteria for each specialty:
The Clinical Surveyor participant shall:
Clinical Surveyor Candidates must:
- Be able to demonstrate valid qualification and licensure as a physician or nurse;
- Have a minimum of 10 years of professional experience working as a physician or nurse within a healthcare organization, in accordance with local regulations and/or national legislation.
Governance/Physical Environment (PE) Surveyor Candidates must:
- Hold at least a tertiary-level education;
- Have a minimum of 5 years of experience in an administrative, technical, or clinical role within a healthcare organization;
- Be able to demonstrate formal training and competence in health and safety management, including fire safety, within healthcare settings;
- Have at least 5 years of professional experience in total, including a minimum of 2 years in a role specifically related to facilities management, risk management, or safety management in a healthcare organization.
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
- Develop the skills needed to plan, conduct, report, and follow up on a survey in accordance with the AACI Operational Manual
- Clearly identify the benefits of an accreditation system for healthcare organizations
- Successfully apply for the practical qualification process to become a Surveyor or Lead Surveyor within the AACI framework
Examination Requirements
All participants are required to sit a two-hour written examination at the conclusion of the course. The exam is developed and provided by AACI and is designed specifically for use in Lead Surveyor Training Programs, in accordance with AACI’s official regulations, including those governing AACI Surveyor Registration.
Participants who do not pass the examination but have otherwise completed the course requirements satisfactorily will be allowed one complimentary re-examination attempt at no additional cost.
